From Roppongi station, go up to the ground level and walk towards Midtown. Before you get there, you will see a cool, black building. This is the "Mercedes Benz Connection", a place where you can get the latest information on Mercedes Benz Japan.

The first floor is café "Downstairs Coffee" and the second floor is the casual French restaurant "Upstairs", the setting for my report. You can walk up to the second floor while admiring the collection of Mercedes Benz cars on display on the ground floor in the gallery.
"Upstairs" concept is authentic French food made casual.

The owner and chef of the two star Michelin restaurant "Ryuzu",
Ryuta Iizuka supervises the "Upstairs" menu.

The ambiance in the restaurant is relaxed and the customers are stylish,
like people from the entertainment world.

There was a huge monitor right in front of the table I was sitting at . . .
It was playing images of Mercedes Benz at the beach,
driving through the town at night . . .

It was like we were driving our own Mercedes.
It was so cool♪
Being fussy about food,
I decided on the very popular "Lunch A-class (¥1500-) plus the dessert buffet (¥500-)

The "Lunch A-class" included an hors d'oeuvre and a fish or meat dish
(from a choice of four fish and four meat dishes).

I was feeling pretty good enjoying the ambiance of the place and really felt like having a glass of sparkling wine. But I had to remind myself that I was working . . .!

So they brought the French bread and butter to the table and you should have seen the butter... The top was shaped like the Mercedes Benz star emblem .

Very impressive!
Hors d'oeuvres
"Salmon Marinade, cherry tomatoes and seasonal vegetable salad with a light tart lemon"

So, first was the hors d'oeuvres "Salmon Marinade, cherry tomatoes and seasonal vegetable salad with a touch of light tart lemon". The Tasmanian salmon and seasonal vegetable dish looked brilliant, the acidity of the lemon gelee had a refreshing summer taste.
The stickiness of the orka entangled with the vegetables, looked so delicious and appealing to the eye.
"Kajiki Blue Marlin, new onion fondue, anchovy and garlic sauce"
The second dish was "Kajiki Blue Marlin, new onion fondue, anchovy and garlic sauce",
The grilled kajiki was thick and moist, served with garlic and anchovy sauce.
The sweetness of the stewed new onions was the best!
This second dish was a masterpiece.
Dessert buffet
Finally, the dessert buffet.
Shortcake, panna cotta, red wine compote, yoghurt orange cake and more,
You can fill your plate with your favorite desserts and enjoy it with a cup of coffee
I ended up trying every dessert
Both lunch and dinner menus may change without notice. It's something to look forward to when you go there to eat! Next time I want to go there for dinner and will definitely order some French wine.

During lunch, one of the staff members brought me a blanket. Actually, I had just got back from a trip to Asia, and the service was perfect, not too much, very friendly and I felt a world class hospitality that they could be proud of. Thank you very much! And by the way, I noticed that the blanket also had the Mercedes Logo.

In the restaurant there is also a counter, and lunchtime can be spent relaxing in luxury.
I felt quite special to be able to thoroughly enjoy the high quality of this dining space.
